Club Welfare Officer Workshops

Badminton England is introducing minimum standards that will provide a benchmark for good practice and guidance to best support affiliated clubs and groups.

The aim is to ensure that together we are creating the best, most enjoyable, inclusive, and safest environments for all those playing, working and volunteering in our sport.

Free online workshops are available in January, February and March.

To find out more about the role of club welfare officers, there will be an online forum on Wednesday 14th January at 6pm

National Schools Championships

County Finals

The Suffolk finals at Key Stage 4 (under-16) took place at Ipswich School Sports Centre on 16th January. Finalists from across Suffolk participated with entries from East Bergholt, Sir John Leman, Castle Manor, Newmarket Academy, Stowmarket, Debenham, St Felix, Copleston, Ormiston Sudbury, and Holbrook schools. A very competitive and enjoyable tournament took place.

Suffolk Badminton Association congratulates all the teams that took part for reaching the county finals. The winners were:

Girls: East Bergholt High School

Boys: Debenham High School

These schools will represent Suffolk in the regional finals to take place at University of Cambridge Sports Centre on Monday 2nd March 2026. Good luck teams!

Masters Squads 2025-26

Players can now play in Over-40 matches as soon as they reach their 38th birthday.

Suffolk Badminton Association enters teams in the Over-40, Over-50, Over-60 and Over-65 Masters County Championships. Fixtures are released at the end of August for the following season.

Over-40, Over-50, Over-60 and Over-65 teams will take part in the County Championships in 2025/26 season. Suffolk will be represented by teams in the Over-40, Over-45, Over-60 and Over-65 categories in the Inter County Challenge over the weekend of 10 and 11 January 2026 across the country..

Masters players from all parts of the county will have playing get-togethers early and mid season on a typical club night style.

Junior Badminton in Suffolk

If you have a child interested in playing badminton within Suffolk then why not get in touch and we will try and place them with a junior club near you. Suffolk Badminton Association is actively promoting the sport within the county. As well as the county junior, senior and masters squads, the association runs about ten tournaments each year. There is also a well-funded strategic development action plan to promote the growth of badminton across Suffolk: by supporting activities from grassroots to competition level.

Annual General Meeting

Suffolk Badminton Association AGM 2025 took place on Wednesday 16th July. Reports and other documents remain available.

Inclusive Badminton

Wednesdays 3:45pm to 4:45pm and 5pm to 6pm (Sept to June) at Suffolk New College. For adults (over 16) with intellectual disability.

Players are supported to compete in Special Olympics events nationally and two inclusive tournaments are hosted every year.

Saturday mornings at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre.

Beginners and improvers 9am to 10:15am.

Intermediate and advanced 10:30am to 12 noon.

Stowmarket Badminton Club

Stowmarket Badminton Club club nights on Mondays and Wednesdays each week. The club plays from 8pm to 10pm at Mid Suffolk Leisure Centre in the Main Hall. During the winter season teams are entered into the Ipswich and District Badminton League and into the Bury and District Badminton League.
